The Lunch Club on Wednesdays and Fridays
The Lunch Club runs every Wednesday and Friday from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm at the Roupell Park Community Centre. Originally supported through a grant from the London Community Foundation, this fantastic initiative was proposed by our resident Nouar Lefdil and is now in its third year.
The Lunch Club has been a great success, and we warmly encourage more residents to join us. It’s particularly valuable for those who are unable or prefer not to cook for themselves, as well as for families and individuals affected by the cost-of-living crisis. The idea is simple but impactful: bringing people together to share a meal, especially for those who might otherwise eat alone, such as the elderly, individuals living alone, or those who lack the time or capacity to prepare cooked meals. Sharing a meal not only fosters connection but also lifts our spirits and promotes overall well-being. Combined with a nutritious, balanced meal, it’s a wonderful way to recharge.
Each week, freshly prepared meals, free of charge, are served, with a focus on hearty, healthy, and flavourful dishes. Every meal is thoughtfully planned to include plenty of fresh vegetables and is halal inclusive.
Nouar, who leads the Lunch Club, is not only an exceptional cook but also a warm and welcoming host. Her attention to detail makes every lunch feel like a celebration, and she often surprises attendees with her homemade cakes—a real treat for those with a sweet tooth!
Many who come once soon make it a regular part of their week, enjoying both the delicious food and the opportunity to socialise with neighbours and friends.
