The Lunch Club takes place every Wednesday from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Roupell Park Community Centre. Launched last spring with the support of a grant from the London Community Foundation, this wonderful initiative was proposed by our resident, Nouar Lefdil.
The idea is simple but powerful: to bring people together to share a meal, especially those who may often eat alone—such as the elderly or individuals who have lost a spouse. Eating together fosters connection, lifts our spirits, and benefits overall well-being. Coupled with a nutritious, balanced meal, it’s an excellent way to recharge.
The Lunch Club has been a huge success, and we warmly invite more residents to join us. It is particularly valuable for those who are unable or prefer not to cook for themselves and also offers welcome support to families and individuals affected by the cost of living crisis.
Each week, freshly prepared meals—free of charge—are served with a focus on hearty, healthy dishes full of flavour. Every meal is thoughtfully planned to include plenty of fresh vegetables and is halal and inclusive. Nouar, who leads the Lunch Club, is not only an excellent cook but also a warm and welcoming host. Her attention to detail makes every lunch feel like a celebration, and she often delights attendees with her delicious home-baked cakes—a treat for anyone with a sweet tooth!
Many who come once quickly make it a regular part of their week, enjoying both the food and the opportunity to socialise with neighbours and friends.
