Roupell Park MUGA (Multi Use Games Area)
In April 2022, we celebrated the opening of our new sports pitch, which has since been transformed into a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA). Formerly old and dilapidated, the facility was unfit for purpose. Fulham’s midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah made a guest appearance at the opening, expressing his admiration for the new facility and mentioning how he felt "jealous", as he didn’t have the privilege of playing on such a fine surface growing up in Gipsy Hill.
The new pitch is equipped with floodlights, markings for football, netball, and basketball hoops, allowing for multiple sports to be played. The modern floodlights provide a well-lit environment, which are especially needed during the winter months.
The new pitch was made possible through successful applications to two funders: the Veolia Environmental Trust and the Football Foundation (a Premier League, Football Association, and Central Government-funded charity). Without their support, it would not have been possible to meet the quarter of a million-pound cost of this project. Our key partners in the bid were Fulham FC Foundation, CEF Lyncx, and St Matthew’s, with Fulham FCF remaining our key delivery partner.
The pitch is open from 9 am until 9 pm and is free for use to all our residents and those who live in the neighbourhood. Apart from free play, we also run a programme of organised activities on the pitch, all FREE of charge for both local and wider Lambeth residents.
The programme is constantly evolving. One of our key aims is to revive girls-only football and introduce netball for women, including "Back to Netball" sessions. Ensuring that sport is accessible to everyone remains a priority, with our commitment to promoting wellbeing and inclusion at the heart of everything we do.
